Adoption STAR will cover the donation fee to participate in the September 28, 2013 Paws in the Park Walk for the first 30 adults who sign up on the Adoption STAR team.
It hasn’t just been the numbers of clients with furry creatures that have astounded us, but also the ease of which these pets gravitated to the new human family member. Stories of cats and dogs faithfully guarding the new baby, snuggling with the baby, and giving up their coveted lap for the new baby are heard daily.
I never thought I would refer to myself as “mommy” when referring to Olive. If you don’t already know, Olive is my baby… Um, I mean my dog. Referring to her as my dog or my pet makes me feel uncomfortable for some reason. 
Roll your eyes, it’s okay, my husband does (though he melts when Olive takes a nap with him! Don’t tell him I told you that!)
Maybe it is the impending empty nest thing people refer to that no doubt will happen to me in the next few years, or that for some reason this little Chihuahua got under my skin. Whatever the reason, I can’t imagine being without her.
For these beautiful reasons, we want you to celebrate your family whether it is one that includes fur babies and/or human babies and join us as we help to support our local SPCA in their upcoming fundraising efforts.
As the SPCA’s longest-running fundraiser, the Paws in the Park Walk invites people to come with (or without) their dog to a two-mile walk at Beaver Island State Park. Held on September 28, 2013, the day will include the opportunity for participants to interact with 50+ pet-related vendors and exhibitors, judged dog trick, costume, and dog-owner look-alike contests, an agility course for the dogs, and fun for children and adults alike with inflatable bounce houses.
Join Michele and Olive, Sue, Ruby and Lola and other Adoption STAR staff, their pets and Adoption STAR families at this event!

Email Kristin Ackerman for the free registration code.
On the webpage, click on “Register Now,” then “Join a Team.” Using the drop down menu, select “Adoption Star.” create a username and password for your account. When entering your information to register, select “Adult Team Member” and enter the discount code. The first 30 adults who register will not have to pay a registration fee!
