Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dixon Family as they say goodbye to a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Adoption STAR father, Bob Dixon. Bob and his beautiful wife, Cory, came to Adoption STAR several years ago and ultimately adopted their daughter Zada. More recently, Bob and Cory were in the midst of adopting a second child, Amari.
If you have been around the agency for any length of time, you understand that we truly are more than just an agency, but a family. Residents of Upstate New York, the Dixons were active in their local adoption community. In keeping with the families wishes, we chose to celebrate- not mourn, the life of Bob today. Here are some thoughts and sentiments that were shared with us by other Adoption STAR families who knew Bob.
“Bob was a fantastic father to Zada and Amari. He was always so attentive and even-tempered. I will miss him.” -Brenna Autrey.
“On the few occasions we met Bob, we could tell he was a passionate father and husband. He exhibited a strength so great in sharing his experiences on creating a family through adoption that most men wouldn’t and couldn’t. He will be remembered by us as a gentle soul with a wonderful personality that we are grateful to have gotten to know.” -Maya, Marco & Theodore Aimi.
“My wife and I met Bob and Cory while we were waiting to be matched. What a wonderful personality! Our first meeting with Bob was at a restaurant with other Albany Adoption Star families. We hit it off right away and enjoyed talking to him and watching him interact with Zada. We attended a home study class a few weeks later and Bob and Cory spoke at it. He was so moved telling their adoption story that he broke down in tears… and it was an experience that me and my wife will always remember. Three cheers to a wonderful man, father, and husband!” - Jason and Gina Winkler.
