Florida Foster Care Bill Passed

Bill Passes in Florida to Bring “Normalcy” in the Foster Care System

A bill known as HB 215 aimed at bringing a little more “normalcy” to the lives of thousands of foster children in Florida was sent to Gov. Rick Scott and unanimously passed on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

The “normalcy” as it was referred to by the Herald Tribune, replaced an elaborate reporting and compliance system for many activities of foster children with a simpler “reasonable prudent parent” standard.

Foster parents typically needed to get permission from “the system” to cut get a child a hair cut, or allow them to go on an overnight trip, etc. The goal reached last month certainly is a win for the children!
