Hi! We’re Brian and Joanna. We live in New York City. We feel lucky to have found each other and feel equally lucky to have the opportunity to bring a child into our home.

Home life

Our home in NYC is on the Upper West Side.  We love taking advantage of all the culture and amenities that NYC has to offer, but also love to spend time at home cooking, reading, relaxing, or exercising. Most weekends we stay close to home and take slow, short walks with our 16 year old dog Janey.

We've lived the last 7 years in New York City, building a life on the Upper West Side.We live on a quiet street, in a good school district next to Central Park and the American Natural History Museum. We live in an brownstone apartment in the heart of the neighborhood. It's a family neighborhood with awesome children's activities, museums, playgrounds all steps from our front door.

There are two big events that happen each year where we live. The first is that our block is the start of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Around that time, everywhere you walk you see the balloons being inflated in preparation for the parade. The second is the annual Halloween trick or treating. The streets around our neighborhood are blocked off and children from all over New York City flock to our streets for trick or treating. Last year Joanna decorated our building with Halloween decorations and we gave our full size candy bars to all of the kids. We were the most popular house on the block!

Life outside of NYC

We’re mostly home bodies but we value getting out of New York City once in a while and experiencing new things. We have a list that we want to visit in the near future and includes places like Charleston, SC, Nashville, TN, and Tokyo, Japan.

We have a vacation home in Big Sky, Montana. It’s a snow skiing village for most of the year but then turns into an outdoors person’s paradise during the summer. Fishing, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, and much more. We plan to continue visiting this home as often as possible for family vacations.

Both Joanna and Brian have strong ties to California. Joanna grew up in Suburban Los Angeles and her entire family still lives in California today. For the most part, we spend time in the San Francisco Bay area visiting close friends and favorite spots like the pier where we got engaged. When in California, We also spend a lot of time in Los Angeles with Joanna’s father and step-mom. Joanna’s mom just moved to Sacramento. We are super excited to go there to visit her in her new home.

All about the music

Brian and Joanna both LOVE music. We see as many live shows as music we can. Its easy to do in NYC, so many great musicians come through here, but we also love to road trip to shows.

We have an extensive collection of old records that we like to play while making breakfast in the morning or straightening up the house during the weekends. Brian also plays guitar and likes to make up funny songs to sing to Joanna while they’re relaxing on the couch. Music is an important part of our lives and we look forward to introducing our child to all kinds of music from Bach to Miles Davis to Beyonce and beyond. We are picking out a list of "first songs" for our child that we will play each Saturday morning.
