Veronica Nelson is a licensed social worker in New York with over 20 years of unwavering dedication to child welfare and family services. A dynamic and compassionate professional, Veronica has spent her career advocating for the most vulnerable populations, ensuring that children and families receive the support and resources needed to thrive.

Veronica earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Welfare from Adelphi University and later obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2004, through Adelphi’s advanced standing program. Veronica’s extensive experience spans across various roles within the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (NYC ACS), where she has served for over 15 years as a Child Protective Investigator, Supervisor, and currently, a Social Worker specializing in high-risk family intervention.

Prior to Veronica’s tenure at NYC ACS, Veronica worked as a Caseworker for SCO Family of Services (formerly St. Christopher Ottilie), where she played a crucial role in child placement, adoption processes, and family reunification. Veronica later advanced to Site Director at Sheltering Arms, where she successfully managed group homes for youth, fostering environments of stability, growth, and empowerment.

Throughout her career, Veronica has developed expertise in foster care and adoption systems, PINS (Persons in Need of Supervision), child abuse and neglect investigations, family court proceedings, crisis intervention, and case management. Veronica’s exceptional ability to engage with at-risk youth, combined with her strategic crisis management skills, has positioned her as a trusted leader in the field.

Veronica’s professional mission is to strengthen and educate families, fostering healthier, more resilient communities. She is deeply committed to breaking cycles of trauma, equipping families with the tools to create stable, nurturing environments for children to flourish.

Beyond her career, Veronica balances her professional responsibilities with a personal commitment to caregiving, supporting her two elderly parents. Veronica finds solace in spending time with her two beloved fur babies, taking reflective walks in the park, meditating, and delving into historical studies.
