Choosing to adopt is often a decision that individuals come to after struggling with infertility. Moving onto the adoption process can be exciting and can renew a sense of hope, but often there is still the underlying grief and loss that accompanies the process of engaging in infertility work. Adoption STAR believes that it is extremely important for individuals to recognize and talk about this grief and loss and that doing so leads to a healthier adoption journey. Many factors can impact when moving from attempting a pregnancy to engaging in the adoption process:
- are you are the same page as your spouse or partner in making an adoption decision?
- are you experiencing depression, anxiety, grief or loss and feel that there is no one for you to talk to?
- are you financially stressed due to the infertility work?
- do you feel a sense of hopelessness when it comes to seeking parenthood?
Please join Kathy Crissey, Director of Adoption on October 14th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm to spend time talking about these and other issues related to infertility. Individuals and/or couples are welcome to attend. Whether you are in the adoption process or still thinking about adoption, this workshop will help provide support and education to you.
