Rachael Metz, LCSW Adoption STAR’s New Adoptive Parent Social Worker and Family Advocate discusses her new job.
Dear Prospective Adoptive Parent(s):
I am writing to you to introduce myself. My name is Rachael Metz. I am the new Social Worker and Family Advocate in the Adoptive Parent Department. Because you have adopted, you may not need the support of a Family Advocate in the same way you did when you were in the adoption process. Please know however that I am here to provide support during your lifelong adoption journey if you need assistance.
Also know that in addition to working with me, you have a full Adoptive Parent Department Team available to you including another Family Advocate, Shannon Boeheim; a Client Support person, Lisa Geiger; and our Client Relationship Manager, Zack Fried.
I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from Case Western Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and my Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Buffalo State College. I became a Licensed MSW in 2007.
While I am a new face at Adoption STAR, please know that I am not new to adoption. For the past 5 ½ years I worked at New Alternatives for Children (NAC) in New York City first as a Senior social worker and then as a Clinical Coordinator where I provided both pre and post adoption support and education, referral and advocacy, crisis intervention and counseling to clients. I believe adoption is a beautiful way to create a family and I love supporting families through their adoption journey.
I am very excited to be working at Adoption STAR and I hope to get to know you at some point in the near future!
Sincerely yours,
Rachael Metz
