Adoption STAR staff members have gotten to know many nurses over the years, and we’re so appreciative of the dedication and compassion they show their patients.
Celebrated annually, National Nurses Week 2015 kicks off on May 6th and ends on May 12th. Adoption STAR has had the pleasure of developing some great relationships with nurses during our fifteen years of existence. These nurses practice in a variety of different settings, too – Private OBGYN offices, public health departments, family planning clinics, labor and delivery wings at hospitals, and more.
If we focus for a moment on labor and delivery nurses, many of us have seen first hand the appropriate, sensitive, and nonjudgmental care nurses can provide to all persons involved in the adoption process. From the moment a pregnant woman in labor arrives at the hospital to the date of a woman’s discharge from the hospital post-delivery, the warm, relationship-focused rapport that a nurse and a patient can develop is heartwarming and speaks volumes as to the tender nature of the nursing profession as a whole.
Take some time during the upcoming week to think of the nurses that have made a difference in your life. While nursing can be an undoubtedly challenging profession, it’s one that is integral to the healthcare industry and to patient care as a whole. Thank you, nurses!
