In today’s blog post, we meet Adoption STAR’s New York State’s Adoption Attorney – Brendan O’Shea.
Michele Fried, Adoption STAR CEO and founder, is often overheard saying, “Brendan is one of the most compassionate and the most kind person that you will ever meet.” Adoption STAR feels honored to be able to work with Brendan O’Shea, Adoption STAR’s NYS adoption attorney, and appreciates the fact that he doesn’t mind our frequent telephone calls because honestly, we learn so much from him everyday!
Brendan O’Shea is a founding partner of Gleason, Dunn, Walsh & O’Shea, and concentrates his practice in adoption, foster care, custody and related court proceedings.
Brendan is an exemplary adoption attorney and expert. In 1994, he represented a same-sex couple that successfully challenged a ruling preventing them from adopting. Additionally he drafted Chapter 680 of the Laws of 2007, entitled “An Act to Amend the Domestic Relations Law and the Social Services Law, in Relation to Consents in Private-Placement Adoption.”
Prior to his current work, Brendan was a law assistant at the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department and prior to entering law school, he was an elementary school teacher!
Brendan is a member of the prestigious Quad A (American Academy of Adoption Attorneys) and a frequent lecturer at American Academy of Adoption Attorneys conventions and for various adoption groups on matters, including but not limited to Ethics in Adoption, Surrenders and Contested Adoptions, etc.
