Amherst, NY — On Monday, March 24, 2014, Kathleen (Kathy) Crissey, LMHC will begin her full time role as Adoption STAR’s first Director of Adoption. Kathy, a resident of Amherst, has served the non-profit organization since 2001 in various capacities including providing post adoption clinical support, moderating an infertility-focused support group, and as a home evaluator for prospective adoptive parents. Kathy is a licensed mental health counselor and an adoptive mother. Whether she’s provided services to adoptees, adoptive parents or birth parents, Kathy has always received high praise from clients for her compassion, kindness, expertise and professionalism.
The Director of Adoption has overall responsibility for the management and administration of the agency’s adoption programs. This includes, but is not limited to: pre and post domestic and international adoption programs, adoptive family recruitment, assessment, training and case management. This position provides direct supervision to all employees related to the adoption programs including in multiple sub-office sites. In addition, the Director of Adoption oversees the monitoring for quality and ensuring stability of adoptive placements.
