Adoption STAR is proud to have a great relationship with the State University of New York at Buffalo’s social work department, as we host a year-long internship opportunity for one of their MSW students.
Kaitlin Incorvia is our MSW intern this year. She graduated from Buffalo State with a Bachelors of Arts and will graduate with a Master’s in Social Work from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2015.
We asked Kaitlin to introduce herself to you so that you are familiar with her name, as she will be writing a number of guest blog posts for us throughout the year.
“Hi Everyone! My name is Kaitlin Incorvia and I am the MSW Intern at Adoption STAR this year. Currently I am enrolled in the Advanced Standing MSW program at the University at Buffalo and I will graduate in May!
Outside of school and my internship, I am also a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed Care Trainer. I have worked with families for many years and I absolutely love it! Over time I have gained experience working with children who have emotional disturbances and also with the foster care system. I have always been interested in adoption and thought Adoption STAR would be a perfect fit to learn more about it! As I enter into my with Adoption STAR internship, I feel excited to be here and I look forward to meeting you!”
The Agency’s interns are subject to the same training requirements that are required of the full time employees. In addition interns sign confidentiality pledges and complete exhaustive background checks before they are cleared to work at Adoption STAR.
