As you prepare to file your taxes, please be mindful of these paperwork changes (as identified by the IRS).
Avid blog readers may recall that back in December of 2014, we devoted a blog post to information on the federal adoption tax credit. While in the office yesterday, Adoption STAR’s International Adoption Coordinator Meg Montgomery shared the following link:
Changes to IRS Form for Qualified Adoption Expenses
The link will take you to a brief write up in the National Law Review (posted on 1/20/15) that outlines various changes that the IRS has made to Form 8839, the form that folks looking to claim the adoption tax credit fill out when filing their taxes. It will be an important read for folks who are getting their tax-related paperwork in order and planning to utilize the adoption tax credit.
A big “thank you” to Meg for alerting us to this important information (and for passing it along as a potential resource for Adoption STAR families).
