Matthew Salesses’ article is extremely personal and thought provoking on a variety of levels. His examination of what it means to feel “the same” versus “different” for adoptees is incredible. If anyone is looking to more fully understand how race, identity, culture, and the feeling of “connection” (or lack thereof) can impact an adoptee’s psyche, Matthew’s writing is beyond valuable.
