At Adoption STAR, we often discuss being touched by adoption and truly whether you work at the agency or have worked with the agency, you know how meaningful those words are. What you may not know is that Adoption STAR is here because one family was so profoundly touched by adoption.
And without any pre-planning between them, we invite you to read what 3 family members shared on their FB pages the morning of Saturday, November 17, 2012. Not only did the three of them become a family on that day 25 years ago, but this silver anniversary coincides with National Adoption Day. How appropriate!
Happy National Adoption Day Post from Zack:
A quarter century ago today, my adoption journey began, as I was placed with the most incredible parents this world has ever seen! At 3 days old I had no idea how beautiful the love a son has for his parents could be. There is not a day that goes by, Michele & Chuck, that I am not reminded of how much I love you. Our story is more valuable than anything that has been written in a book, more moving than any movie put onto a screen, and something we are lucky to call our own. This day will always be my favorite day of every year. Happy Anniversary to us, and I LOVE YOU!!!
Happy National Adoption Day Post from Zack’s Dad, Chuck:
25 years ago it all began! We arrived early at the hospital in suburban Philadelphia to pick up our new son Zack. I can still remember the room, the sounds, and of course the emotions. That love that you can’t describe. To this day one of the most important moments in our lives. Happy Parenting anniversary Michele, Zack, and of course the rest of the Friedlings soon to follow along to round out our amazing family!
Happy National Adoption Day Post from Zack’s mom, Michele:
25 Years Ago Today I Became A Mother. It sounds like a title to a song. But it isn’t. I spent weeks attempting to write a poem to Zack, but kept coming up with inadequate words to say how special this day means to me. So as silly as it may sound, on our silver anniversary, I give you through the magic of iTunes, music that expresses my love for you… while not every verse in every song makes sense, there are some words that I have hummed in the past many days it took to put this compilation of music together, words like
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
Or from the words of Roberta Flack,
The first time, ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars
Were the gifts you gave
To the dark, and the endless skies
And even though Carly Simon’s lyrics in her song, Love of My Life,
might assume that I met you when you were first born, it doesn’t matter, as
From the moment I first saw you…
I knew that you were the love of my life
Quite simply the love of my life.
So, along with some of the lyrics, I give you the essence of each song because
25 years ago not only did you change my life, not only did my dream of becoming a mother come true, but you were who I waited for, there is no truer words than those and somehow all these years later I am transported back to the day I first met you and to all those first emotions.
I would never have guessed in those days that I would be where I am today, that being touched by adoption would lead not just me, but you as well, to our second home, Adoption STAR.
Happy Anniversary Zachary Lou!

I love you!
Love, Mom
