Shining Star Scholarship for the Adoption of Children

Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in adopting a child with special needs. To apply for this scholarship, you must be a client of Adoption STAR, have an approved and current home study, and be committed to adopting a child with significant physical and cognitive disabilities. The scholarship is awarded at time of match with a child. The scholarship funds go directly toward reducing or waiving the placement fee.

Having a disability should not define a person, but unfortunately for far too many children a disability means that they labeled as “hard to place” or worse, “un-adoptable.” Adoption STAR has always rejected those labels.
In your own words, please describe why you are hoping to specifically adopt a child with a disability?*
