The International Adoption Center at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has been working with adoptive families since 1999 and specializes in families who have chosen to grow their family through international adoption.
According to an article on Cincinnati.com, the center has seen an increase in the age of children it works with in recent years. The director of the IAC, Dr. Mary Staat, said that because of increased adoption regulations several countries have put in place “kids are definitely older. They’re more likely to have special needs.”
The article said there are about 12 similar adoption centers throughout the country and the Cincinnati center, which is one of the largest, works with about 150 children per year.
The center will work with families who are just beginning their adoption journey as well as those who have already received placements.
