June is LGBT Pride Month! We thought we’d share some of our favorite LGBT-related resources via the links below. We hope they prove to be helpful…and HAPPY PRIDE to all, especially LGBT families that have adopted children with the help of Adoption STAR!
Gay and Lesbian Youth Services of Western New York, Inc. works to “provide an accepting environment to enhance the personal growth of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning youth in Western New York. GLYS advocates for community awareness and acceptance of young people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.”
Pride Center of Western New York is a Buffalo-based organization that strives “to work with the community to make Western New York a safe, healthy, and satisfying place for LGBT people to live, work and establish their families.”
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center in New York City (Manhattan) “fosters a welcoming environment where everyone is celebrated for who they are. We offer the LGBT communities of NYC health and wellness programs; arts, entertainment and cultural events; recovery, wellness, parenthood and family support services.”
The Lesbian and Gay Family Building Project “is dedicated to helping lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) people in upstate New York achieve their goals of building and sustaining healthy families. We do this by providing support, advocacy, information, and access to community and sensitive health care and services.”
Human Rights Campaign’s All Children, All Families project “promotes LGBT cultural competency among child welfare agencies through innovative resources including an online agency self-assessment tool; comprehensive staff training, free technical assistance, and more.” Adoption STAR has been given the HRC’s seal of approval as a part of this project (which we’re very proud of).
