Zack Fried
Executive Director
As Executive Director, Zack is responsible for the operations and management of Adoption STAR. His position includes implementing strategic plans, agency growth and expansion, financial management, board partnerships, accomplishing compliance objectives, establishing compliance standards, and leading the planning and organization of site visits and licensing reviews. Zack is also responsible for supervising staff, public relations and community involvement, and executing and implementing policies developed by the Board of Directors.
As an adoptee himself, Zack has a unique perspective on adoption that proves invaluable to his work at the agency. Zack first officially joined the agency in 2009, and prior to that served in a volunteer capacity with Adoption STAR since its inception. Throughout the years, Zack has held various positions with Adoption STAR, including working in intake, compliance, client relations, and as Associate Director.
Zack is a tireless advocate for adoption education and permanency planning to be in the best interest of children. A past Business First “30 Under 30” award honoree, Zack is a frequent speaker at nationwide conferences and workshops. Zack was the keynote speaker at the 2021 Annual Adoptive Parents Committee Adoption Conference in Brooklyn, and regularly speaks on behalf of the North American Council on Adoptable Children. Zack participates as a facilitator in pre-parenthood classes and information sessions. Additionally, Zack is the facilitator of ACE (Adoptee Circle of Experience support group) providing support, resources and search information for adult adoptees.
Outside of adoption, Zack loves watching Netflix, eating, traveling, music, cleaning, and spending time with loved ones.
